FAQ's
What's with the name? In the world of pottery, those of us that enjoy the craft can be loosely divided into MudMen and FireMen. MudMen particularly enjoy the act of throwing/making the pots. FireMen are more interested in the magic of glazing and firing. Of course, each potter must come to terms with achieving a balance of both camps in order to produce enjoyable pots. I profess to enjoying the throwing of pots much more than the challenges of firing the pots.
How do I buy your pots? I have chosen not to sell my pottery through a website for both practical and aesthetic reasons. It is challenging to ship pottery economically and know it will arrive in one piece. As important to me, I want people to buy my pots because they like how they feel in their hands. This means that I sell from my studio and at various shows through the year. Please contact me with any questions/requests.
What's your teaching style? I won't even try to articulate my style but I will acknowledge that I'm better suited to teaching adults who have a sense of humor. I am a big believer in getting the fundamentals down first because wheel throwing is very much a craft. The creativity can follow as needed. The link below to some brief tutorials I posted on YouTube might confirm this.
